Coming off the 2018 Vegas Shot Show, the Sig Sauer P365 quickly became THE conceal carry firearm to have whether you were in Law Enforcement or any other profession, it became the hottest ticket, leaving wholesalers with back orders for months on end.

I think Sig made this firearm with me in mind (and another couple of hundred thousand people as well) and they got everything right. The size and weight make it possible to carry everyday-all year long without worry. Carrying 10+1 to 12+1 rounds and weighing 1 lbs., 2oz makes this firearm capable of finishing the job at hand.

The P365 is similar to my Glock 43 and Ruger EC9 but amazingly it’s not a single-stack, keeping it nice and compact for everyday conceal carry; you really must admire the marvel of Sig’s engineering prowess. What other firearm manufacturer would create the magazine first and build around it? Sig Sauer, that’s who! They even received 3 patents in the process of designing this piece of art!

The P365’s mags are tapered (thicker at the bottom and narrower at the top) and hold the 9mm rounds in a double stack order. The rounds actually go from double stack to single stack as they get to the top of the magazine…cool idea huh! Because of this, the grip fits nicely (even better with the extended mag) for the whole hand but especially for my thumb and trigger finger.

Using the standard NRA 5.5” B8 bullseye at 10 yards I was able to get off 10 rounds in about 8 seconds from concealment with all rounds landing in the black (2 of which were on the line). I did seem to worry about pinching my hand between the bottom of the frame and the top of the magazine baseplate but the fear dissipated as I put 800 rounds through it to get comfortable. Where you carry the P365 (on your person) will depend on where you like to draw from. It can easily be a pocket or ankle carry firearm, but I prefer carrying at the IWB 5 o’clock position.

All in all, if you like sub-compact firearms, this seems to be the pinnacle of the category.

2/10/19 – Just a quick update: I attended the Great American Outdoor Show where I spoke to Sig Reps what stated the factory is working overtime to produce more P365s, he stated “We have 300,000 P365s out there now and the demand is still strong”

Look for drips-and-drabs throughout February but there will be more shipping in March and April.
